Medium red. Wild, gamey and exotic, offering ripe cherry, cassis and blueberry scents, along with an exotic lashing of cocoa powder and anise. Solid bitter cherry and dark chocolate flavors gain sweetness in the glass, slowly revealing a sweet raspberry preserve quality. Impressively persistent, deeply flavored wine offering striking finishing intensity." (Nov/Dec. '08) From Burghound: "Readers should know that Joe Davis’ goal is to create serious, long-lived and intense Burgundian styled wines and to that end,he does not destem; as such, the texture and mouth feel of his wines are decidedly different than much of what you will usually taste from California and Oregon. Not surprisingly, stylistically the wines do indeed closely resemble the Burgundian modeland it would require a careful taster to identify many of the Arcadian wines as US pinots.Classic ruby. An elegant and refined red raspberry, cranberry and pinot fruit nose nuanced by hints of spice and underbrush that are also reflected on the supple, forward, pure and admirably well-detailed medium weight flavors that possess a dusty mouth feel and more mid-palate concentration than the attack initially suggests, all wrapped in a sappy and persistent finish. There is not necessarily impressive depth but this may well come in time as this has the balance and density to age well.
